  • Think back through the various points in your sport career when you decided to level-up. Maybe it was joining a travel team or deciding to go to camp and work over the summer. The idea is to recognize that you made active choices along the way to compete at a higher level and, thus, you should feel proud of yourself for choosing your current challenges.

  • An alternative would be to imagine your younger self watching you now. Even if your current thought is “I’m so bad,” from the perspective of the kid you used to be when just starting out, you’d be impressed that you’re now as good as you are.
